Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer at Emerson, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of new instruments. Your key role will involve generating detailed 3D CAD models, creating accurate 2D drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards. Your proactive nature, adaptability to new situations, and effective communication will be crucial in completing assigned tasks efficiently. - Involved in end-to-end design and development of new instruments, from concept generation to prototyping and validation. - Create detailed 3D CAD models of mechanical components and assemblies using tools like SolidWorks. - Ensure designs meet functional, manufacturability, and cost requirements. - Generate accurate 2D drawings with GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications for manufacturing and quality control. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support prototype development and incorporate feedback from testing into design iterations. - Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Oracle, ensuring proper part numbering, version control, and data integrity. - Participate in design reviews, DFMEA sessions, and brainstorming meetings with the NPD team. - Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards and internal design guidelines. - Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and improved manufacturability. - Stay updated with the latest CAD tools, design practices, and materials relevant to instruments. - Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum 3+ years of experience in design and development of housing design of instrument products used in industry applications. - Sound knowledge of industry equipment, instruments, and global standards. - Proficiency in CAD and PDM software, with SolidWorks preferred. - Good understanding of mechanical component design and development, including casting, moulding, and sheet metal. - Knowledge of GD&T and international standards like ASME; understanding of PED would be an added advantage. - Proficient in MS Office tools. - Better understanding of materials and selection based on application requirements.
