Embedded Linux Developer

You will be joining Raptee.HV, a full-stack electric motorcycle startup founded in 2019 by engineers from Chennai with backgrounds at Tesla and Wipro. The company aims to revolutionize the EV market by offering high-performance electric motorcycles. Raptee Energy is incubated at CIIC & ARAI. As an experienced Embedded Linux Developer, your role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining embedded Linux systems using the Yocto Project. You will be responsible for kernel driver development, hardware bring-up, and system-level debugging. Collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams is essential to deliver robust Linux-based solutions and guiding best practices while mentoring junior engineers. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux systems and distributions using the Yocto Project. - Develop, debug, and optimize Linux kernel drivers for new hardware components and devices. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Linux-based solutions into products. - Troubleshoot complex system issues using tools like JTAG debuggers and network sniffers. - Manage and optimize the build process using Yocto; maintain custom layers and documentation. - Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and contribute to an Agile development process. - Mentor junior engineers and share best practices in embedded Linux development. **Requirements:** - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. - 2+ years of proven experience in embedded Linux development using the Yocto Project. - Proficiency in C (and C++) programming for low-level and kernel-space code. - Experience in writing and maintaining Linux kernel drivers and modules. - Understanding of hardware-software integration, device trees, and board support packages. - Knowledge of cross-compilation toolchains, version control (Git), and automated build systems. - Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills on embedded platforms. - Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. **Preferred Skills:** - Experience with ARM or other embedded architectures. - Familiarity with open-source tools and frameworks like Buildroot, Jenkins, Docker. - Contributions to open-source projects or community engagement. - Experience with real-time operating system concepts or virtualization. - Knowledge of networking, security, or other specialized domains. - Advanced scripting abilities in Python and Bash for automation and testing.
