Job Description

The Electrician & Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all electrical and plumbing systems within the school premises. This dual-role position requires a highly skilled and versatile individual who can ensure the safety, efficiency, and continuous operation of essential school utilities, minimizing disruptions to the learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Responsibilities: Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control equipment, and other electrical systems throughout the school buildings (classrooms, offices, labs, restrooms, cafeteria, outdoor areas). Perform regular preventative maintenance on electrical panels, circuit breakers, lighting systems, and emergency power systems. Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., Indian Electricity Rules). Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical faults, power outages, short circuits, and malfunctioning electrical equipment. Replace faulty switches, outlets, light fixtures, ballasts, and other electrical components. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and ensure quick restoration of power. Safety & Compliance: Conduct routine safety checks on electrical systems to identify and mitigate hazards. Ensure proper grounding and insulation of all electrical equipment. Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repair work. Plumbing Responsibilities: Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including water supply lines, drainage systems, sewage systems, and fixtures (toilets, sinks, urinals, faucets, water heaters, water coolers). Perform preventative maintenance on pipes, pumps, water tanks, and filtration systems to prevent leaks and blockages. Ensure efficient operation of the school's water supply and waste disposal. Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, burst pipes, and malfunctioning water heaters or pumps. Replace faulty plumbing components, valves, and seals. Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies like major leaks or sewage backups. Drainage & Sanitation: Ensure proper functioning of drainage systems and clear blockages in pipes and drains. Maintain hygienic conditions in restrooms and ensure proper disposal of wastewater. Water Management: Monitor water usage and identify potential areas for conservation. Ensure proper functioning of rainwater harvesting systems (if applicable). General Responsibilities (Both Roles): Problem Solving: Efficiently diagnose and resolve issues with minimal disruption to school activities. Material Management: Manage inventory of electrical and plumbing supplies, tools, and equipment. Safety: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Promote a safe working environment. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including materials used and time spent. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other school staff, including administrative, teaching, and support teams. Emergency Response: Be available for emergency calls outside regular working hours, if required. New Projects: Assist in the installation of new electrical and plumbing systems for school expansion or renovation projects.
