Many years ago, Lam Research embarked on a journey to set up a global center in Bangalore to expand its reach for Indian talent pool. Over the decade, this center expanded its capability and scope beyond engineering to global manufacturing, supply chain operations and other shared services. One of the major functional groups of this entity is LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Technology). In Hardware group, mechanical engineers, simulation analysts, electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and engineering support functions work collaboratively to design, develop sub-assemblies and sub-systems for Lam s next-generation products. LIGHT has completed more than a decade of growth and has emerged as a major new product development and sustaining engineering team for Lam s global engineering footprint.

There is an opening for the role of Electrical Engineering Technical Lead Engineer. This position is based out of Bangalore, directly reporting to the leader of WETS (Wet Equipment Technology Solutions) Electrical Engineering team of LIGHT. This individual shall collaborate with engineers in India, Europe and United States and on new product development of WETS product lines.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a minimum 8 exp. Or Masters in Electrical / Electronics Engineering with a minimum 6 Yrs Exp.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional electrical engineering research, design, development, modification, and evaluation in support of electrical and electro-mechanical systems/subsystems, embedded systems and power distribution.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary engineering design team: electrical, mechanical, software, technical support, productivity engineers, and suppliers, on the design, modification, of custom and OEM components.
  • Collection and analyze relevant material and data in preparation of the presentation at design, project, and program reviews.
  • Participate in the change review board discussions and communicate the impact of change on the product.
  • Design and develop closed-loop control algorithms (PID, state-space, adaptive, feedforward, etc.).
  • Model dynamic systems using MATLAB/Simulink and validate control strategies through simulations.
  • Implement real-time control algorithms on microcontrollers or DSP platforms.
  • Work with embedded software and hardware teams for integration and validation of control systems.
  • Perform tuning, calibration, and system-level optimization in lab and field conditions.
  • Conduct HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) testing.
  • Support model-based design (MBD) and auto code generation processes.
  • Prepare design documentation, test plans, and validation reports.
  • Contribute to system-level architecture and safety assessments as per relevant standards.
Mandatory skills and experience required to perform the job:
  • Solid knowledge of classical and modern control theory along with system modelling and stability analysis.
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Simulink, and Control System Toolbox.
  • Must have worked on any one of electrical engineering CAD tools like PCAD, ORCAD, Cadence or equivalent CAD packages for circuit design & simulation.
  • Familiarity with model-based design workflows, auto-code generation tools (Embedded Coder, TargetLink, etc.).
  • Experience with EtherCAT, ideally the Beckhoff Twincat XAE Design environment, and Motion control.
  • Proficient in designing sensor interfaces for IO controllers (Analog & Digital IO s), system dynamics, sensors, and actuators.
  • Experience with microcontrollers (TI C2000, NXP, STM32, etc.) and embedded C programming.
  • Hands-on experience in Low Voltage Electrical & Electronic circuit designs for Power and Control applications.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time systems, RTOS, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in Semiconductor Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) domain
  • Proficient in selection of components, setting up equipment for experimentation / testing in laboratory environment, setting up safe practices.
  • Sound Knowledge in Engineering Change & Configuration Management Process.
  • Knowledgeable in Electrical & Electronic Circuit design with safety interlocks & various circuit analyses. (Circuit analyses include De-rating & Stress analysis, Power analysis & Logic compatibility analysis etc.)
  • Proficient in selecting Electrical/Electronic OEM components.
  • Familiar with Safety standards like - UL 508, IEC 60947, SEMI S22, NFPA79.
  • Experience in HIL/SIL/MIL testing.
  • Experience with dSPACE, NI LabVIEW, or Vector tools.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
  • Team leadership or mentoring experience.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
