Job Description

Role Overview: As an Electrical Design Expert Engineer at ZF Wind Power Coimbatore Private Limited, you will be a key member of the Research & Development team responsible for shaping the future of mobility through designing system architecture, system specification, functional safety development, and compliance. Your role will involve converting system requirements into detailed motor specifications, leading technical discussions with global motor suppliers, designing rules for grounding and equipotential bonding, aligning with the digitalization team on controls, and planning and executing the Design Verification & Validation (DVP&R) for motors, drives, and auxiliary electrical components. Key Responsibilities: - Define and own the electrical motor development for new products, including converting system requirements into detailed motor specifications. - Select and specify motors for pumps, fans, and auxiliaries, considering single speed & double speed motors. - Lead technical discussions with global motor suppliers, evaluate design proposals, align on materials, negotiate technical clauses, and release the final specification. - Design rules for grounding and equipotential bonding, ensuring consistent application across projects. - Benchmark and align with the digitalization team on controls, define sensor data protocols, evaluate architectures, and ensure interface compatibility with turbine OEM systems. - Plan and execute the Design Verification & Validation (DVP&R) for motors, drives, and auxiliary electrical components, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Qualifications Required: - Bachelors/Masters in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in motor and electrical system design, supplier interaction, and IEC-based qualification. - Proven expertise with standards such as IEC 60034, IEC 60349, IEC 61800, IEEE 112, ISO 9001, and related test methodologies. - Knowledge of motor construction, VFD-based drive systems, dual-speed motors, single-speed motors, auxiliary components, dynamometer, power-analyzer, and DAQ systems. - Experience in designing and certifying electrical cabinets, cable trays, routing plans, and equipotential bonding systems. - Strong communication skills in English and ability to explain complex electrical and digital topics to multidisciplinary audiences. - Curiosity, self-initiative, and continuous-improvement mindset.
