Profile - EHV Design Engineer – Pooling Substations (110/220/400 kV)

Qualification - B.Tech Electrical

Experience - Min 3–8 years of experience in EHV substation design, preferably pooling substations.Knowledge of AIS/GIS layouts, protection systems, and SCADA. Familiarity with CEA/CTU/STU standards and renewable evacuation requirements.

Salary - Upto 10 LPA CTC

Location - Bangalore

Role Overview

The EHV Design Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and design of 110 kV, 220 kV, and 400 kV pooling substations used for renewable energy evacuation. The role includes primary and secondary design, equipment sizing, interface engineering with transmission lines, and coordination with utilities and OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Primary Engineering – Pooling Substations

Prepare SLDs, key line diagrams, and busbar configurations for 110/220/400 kV pooling substations.

Develop equipment layouts, clearances, earthing layouts, and cable routing plans.

Size major equipment: transformers, breakers, isolators, CT/PT/CVT, surge arresters, and busbars.

Prepare GA drawings and substation layout plans (AIS/GIS).

2. Secondary Engineering – Protection & Metering

Prepare protection schemes and relay logic for pooling substations.

Support relay setting calculations and protection coordination.

Prepare metering, SCADA, RTU/IED interface requirements.

3. Transmission Line Interface

Coordinate with TL design teams for bay extensions and line termination requirements.

Review conductor selection, tower interface drawings, and OPGW communication requirements.

4. Grid Connectivity & Approvals

Support load flow and short‑circuit studies for grid‑connectivity submissions.

Coordinate with CTU/STU/SLDC for technical approvals and compliance.

5. Vendor & Project Coordination

Prepare technical specifications and BOQs for EHV equipment.

Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project standards.

Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning.

Preferred Skills

* AutoCAD, ETAP/DIgSILENT, or similar tools.

* Experience with protection relays (ABB/Siemens/SEL/GE).

* Strong documentation and coordination skills.
