Project Engineer Fire Fighting Services
Role & responsibilities The Project Engineer for Fire Fighting Services in an EPC company is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring all fire fighting system activities of a project from concept to commissioning. This includes working closely with design, procurement, construction, and quality teams to ensure timely delivery of a safe, compliant, and cost-effective fire protection system. Project Planning & Design Review project drawings, specifications, and scope related to fire fighting systems. Assist in preparation and approval of shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and technical submittals. Ensure designs comply with NFPA, IS, NBC, TAC, and client requirements. Procurement & Coordination Prepare BOQs and coordinate procurement of fire fighting equipment and materials. Evaluate vendor and subcontractor submissions and participate in technical discussions. Ensure timely material deliveries and support procurement activities. Site Execution & Supervision Supervise and monitor installation of systems: sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, deluge, gas suppression, etc. Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, electrical, HVAC) for integration. Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality and safety compliance. Testing & Commissioning Oversee hydrostatic testing, flow/pressure tests, and system commissioning. Prepare documentation for authority inspections and support in obtaining fire safety certifications/NOCs. Participate in final inspections and project handover to client. Reporting & Documentation Maintain project records: daily reports, inspection & testing logs, material tracking. Escalate risks and delays with recommendations to the Project Manager. Preferred candidate profile Education: Bachelors/Diploma in Mechanical or Fire & Safety Engineering. Experience: 3 to 7 years in fire fighting systems execution within EPC, construction, or MEP projects. Technical Skills: Knowledge of fire fighting systems & standards (NFPA, IS, NBC). Proficient in reading engineering drawings & P&IDs. Familiar with MS Office, AutoCAD, and project tools. Soft Skills: Excellent communication & teamwork. Problem-solving and decision-making ability. Strong focus on quality and safety. Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure. Key Deliverables Approved drawings and material submittals. Installation & testing reports. Progress and status reports. Commissioning documents and authority clearances.
