Role & responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities of Deputy Director of Sports

(Amity University Haryana)

Sports Administration

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising sports events at intra- and inter-university levels.
  • Coordinate with various departments and committees for smooth conduct of sports activities.
  • Maintain records of sports achievements, events, and inventories.

Athlete Development

  • Identify student-athletes with potential and facilitate training programs.
  • Coordinate with coaches and trainers for regular practice sessions.
  • Organize fitness and skill development programs for students.

Infrastructure and Equipment Management

  • Supervise maintenance and development of sports facilities (stadiums, gymnasiums, courts).
  • Ensure availability and proper maintenance of sports equipment.

Liaison and Representation

  • Represent the university in various meetings and tournaments at regional/national levels.
  • Liaise with sports federations, university sports boards (e.g., AIU), and government bodies.

Budget and Procurement

  • Assist in preparing and managing the budget for sports activities.
  • Oversee the purchase of sports materials and ensure adherence to financial rules.

Policy Implementation and Compliance

  • Ensure implementation of university/UGC/government sports policies and regulations.
  • Maintain discipline and ethical conduct in all sports activities.
  • Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment of Deputy Director of Sports (as per UGC/University Norms)

Educational Qualifications

  • A Masters Degree in Physical Education or Sports Science with at least

    55% marks

    (or an equivalent grade).
  • Record of having represented the university/college at the inter-university/inter-collegiate competitions or the State/National level.
  • Passed the

    National Eligibility Test (NET)

    conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET),

    OR

  • Ph.D. in Physical Education or Sports Science in accordance with UGC Regulations.

Experience

  • Minimum

    5–8 years of experience

    in teaching or as a Sports Officer/Coach at the university/college level or equivalent experience in sports administration.
  • Proven track record in organizing sports events and activities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Specialized certifications in coaching or sports management.
  • Participation in recognized national or international sports events.
