DTP Operator

Key Responsibilities

• Question Paper Typesetting:

  Type, format, and structure complete question papers (MCQs, numerical-type questions, and solutions) in strict adherence to departmental templates.

• Content Formatting:

  Prepare and organize detailed academic materials such as chapter notes, assignments, and modules for

  Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology

  .

• Formula & Equation Handling:

  Accurately type and align mathematical equations, chemical reactions, and physical formulae using

  MathType

  or equivalent equation editors.

• Diagram & Figure Integration:

  Insert, resize, and position charts, diagrams, and images neatly within documents as guided by the content team.

• AI/Automation Tools:

  Use AI-powered tools (e.g., Grammarly, ChatGPT, Gemini) for basic proofreading, formatting cleanup, and efficiency enhancement.

• Quality Assurance:

  Conduct thorough proofreading to eliminate typographical or formatting errors, ensuring technical accuracy of scientific/mathematical symbols.

• Version Control & Archiving:

  Maintain organized file versions and ensure all corrected drafts are archived systematically in shared drives.

• Template & Style Compliance:

  Ensure strict adherence to pre-defined departmental templates and uniform formatting standards.

Required Skill Set

Technical Proficiency

• MS Word (Advanced Level):

• Expert use of Styles, Layouts, Sections, and Page Formatting.
• Skilled in handling large multi-page documents efficiently.
• Proficient in creating and formatting complex tables and tabular data.
• Strong command of keyboard shortcuts for speed and accuracy.
  

• MathType (Mandatory):

• Proficient in typing complex equations swiftly and accurately.
• Deep familiarity with mathematical and scientific symbols (Greek letters, vectors, operators, integrals, summations, chemical notations).
• Skilled in maintaining equation alignment, consistency, and sizing.
  

• Typing Speed:

• Minimum

  40–50 WPM

  with high accuracy, especially for technical text containing equations and symbols.

Academic & Content Understanding

• Strong familiarity with

  STEM symbols, terminology, and notations

  used in JEE/NEET-level subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology).
• Ability to interpret and reproduce academic content with precision.
  

Qualification & Experience

• Education:

  Graduate in Science / Engineering / Computer Applications preferred.

• Experience:

  0–1 years of experience as a DTP Operator, Typesetter, or similar role in academic or publishing domains (preferably in JEE/NEET content).

• Software Knowledge:

  MS Office, MathType, Equation Editors, PDF editors, and basic AI tools.
