Door and Window Design and Estimation Engineer

As a Window and Door Designer & Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our team by transforming architectural drawings and customer requirements into precise designs and cost estimates. Your expertise in fenestration systems, CAD software, and estimation practices will be instrumental in delivering accurate solutions for production and sales. You will be responsible for interpreting architectural drawings and customer specifications to create custom window and door solutions. Using software like AutoCAD or EVA, you will develop detailed fabrication and installation drawings. Your role will involve generating material take-offs, cost estimates, and pricing proposals, collaborating with sales and project management teams to provide competitive quotes, and ensuring accurate component sourcing and pricing with suppliers and internal teams. It will be essential for you to optimize designs for structural integrity, energy efficiency, and manufacturability while staying updated on industry standards, building codes, and product specifications. You will also be involved in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality, as well as providing technical guidance and updated drawings to production and installation teams. To excel in this role, you should have proven experience in window and door design, proficiency in CAD software, and familiarity with aluminum or composite systems. Strong mathematical and analytical skills will be required for accurate estimations, along with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Effective communication, collaboration, and a diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field are preferred qualifications. Preferred skills include experience with estimation tools and ERP systems, knowledge of structural and thermal performance standards for fenestration, the ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings, and a problem-solving attitude towards design challenges.
