Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting · Respond to mechanical failures or breakdowns on urgent basis to minimize downtime. · Dismantle faulty equipment, identify the root cause, and replace or repair defective parts. · Use precision measuring instruments like micrometres, vernier callipers, dial gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy. · Collaborate with production and electrical teams during troubleshooting of cross-functional issues. 4. Fabrication & Welding Support · Cut, bend, and fabricate metal sheets, pipes, or structural supports using gas cutters, grinders, drill machines, and pipe benders. · Perform basic arc, MIG, or gas welding (if certified) for plant maintenance or equipment repair. · Prepare support structures, brackets, or temporary platforms as needed. 5. Piping & Utility System Support · Assist in the installation and repair of utility lines (steam, compressed air, cooling water, chilled brine, nitrogen). · Inspect and replace worn gaskets, pipe fittings, or supports to prevent leaks and unsafe operation. · Perform flushing, hydro testing, and leak detection on pipelines during shutdowns or new installations. 6. Plant Turnaround / Shutdown Assistance · Participate in plant shutdowns for major overhauls or inspections. · Follow shutdown checklists, disassembly protocols, and reassembly standards. · Collaborate with contractors, QA/QC teams, and safety officers during large-scale maintenance activities. 7. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping · Follow all plant safety protocols including: o Permit to Work (PTW) system o Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) o Confined space and height safety procedures · Report unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions immediately. · Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop, mechanical room, and around job sites. · Properly tag and store tools and spares after use. 8. Documentation & Coordination · Record daily activities in maintenance logbooks. · Report spares and consumables requirements proactively to avoid delays. · Support root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring mechanical problems. · Attend toolbox talks and contribute to safety and quality initiatives.
