Director - Algorithm Development

Job Description: As a candidate at Applied Materials, you will lead a team of data scientists providing analytics services for the company's installed base. Your responsibilities include developing new service capabilities, piloting and commercializing them, collaborating with various teams, and training end-users. Your team's expertise will cover various areas such as statistical analysis, AI/ML, data visualization, and process automation. Key Responsibilities: - Manage completion of assignments, projects, and programs supporting Applied's service business - Develop roadmaps for algorithmic development programs and oversee concept and feasibility - Review progress to milestones, document development and deployment - Interact with customers to define gaps, identify opportunities, and deliver solutions - Present project reviews to management, run regular meetings, and align with organizational goals - Oversee technical development, set objectives, and drive team performance - Develop growth plans, identifying new impact areas Qualifications Required: - Proficient in Python, C++, Unix, Image Processing, AI/ML, NLP, Text Mining, Database Design, Web Scraping, GPU Optimization - Skilled in Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Teams, Atlassian JIRA/Confluence - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to build positive relationships - Cross-functional teamwork, multitasking, and effective team leadership - Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills - Interest in pursuing a career in the semiconductor industry Education: - Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering with a focus on data science or AI/ML Experience: - Over 15 years in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering with emphasis on statistical analysis and Image Processing/Computer Vision Algorithms - Semiconductor background is advantageous - Prior experience in leading teams is essential,
