Help create and follow rules and standards for how data should be collected, stored, and shared.
Make sure only the right people can access certain data, and that the data is protected using tools like encryption and masking.
Work with different teams (like IT and business teams) to make sure we are following legal and company rules (such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA).
Organize data by classifying it (example: personal info, financial info) so it's easier to protect and manage.
Help with managing the data's life cycle from when it's created to when it's no longer needed and should be deleted safely.
Assist in building data catalogs and glossaries so everyone knows what the data means and where it comes from.
Support regular audits and checks to make sure we're following the rules.
Stay updated on the latest tools, risks, and best practices in data governance and security.

Skills Required:

A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a similar field.
2 to 5 years of experience working with data governance or data security.
Knowledge of data protection laws like GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA.
Experience using data governance tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
Familiarity with data security methods such as access control, encryption, and data masking.
Understanding of data tools or platforms such as Power BI, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or SQL databases.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have:

Certifications such as CDMP, CIPP, or ISO 27001.
Experience working in industries with strict regulations (like banking or healthcare).
Basic skills in SQL or Python for checking and working with data.
