Job Summary: The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing complete price estimates for Refinery Plant, Fractionation, Hydrogenation, Oleo Chemical, Bio Diesel, and Solvent Extraction Plants for both domestic and international projects within the Desmet Group. The role requires collaboration with vendors, suppliers, workshops, and internal departments to ensure accurate and competitive pricing . MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Obtain quotes from designated workshops for Desmet property fabricated vessels (Pressure vessels, Columns, Hopper, Ducts). Gather quotations from vendors/suppliers for bought-out items like Vacuum System, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Packing Materials, Centrifugal Fans, Compressors, Geared Motors , etc. Revalidate prices with workshops/vendors for similar equipment to maintain cost accuracy. Conduct internal estimations for critical equipment such as Deodorizers, Bleachers, Reactors, Columns, Atmospheric Tanks, etc. Collaborate with the electrical department to determine instrumentation and electrical pricing. Provide cost estimates for major Solvent Extraction Plant (SEP), Refinery, Fractionation, and Hydrogenation equipment for local and export sales teams. Estimate vessel prices for expansion projects as needed. Update standard pricing for Mobilizer, Winwax Filter, and Sublimator regularly. Perform weight estimations for critical equipment to assist in layout planning. Work closely with the Proposal/Sales Manager to understand requirements and provide accurate estimates. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong experience in estimating storage tanks, cylindrical vessels, pressure vessels, reactors, crystallizers, heat exchangers, pumps, boilers, gearboxes, and geared motors. Understanding of fabrication processes such as plate cutting, rolling, dish-end formation, welding, drilling, machining, and material testing. Knowledge of Vacuum Systems, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Packing Materials, Fans, Compressors, Geared Motors. Ability to read fabrication drawings, general assembly drawings, plant layouts, process & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID). Familiarity with piping codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, DIN, EN. Knowledge of pipes, fittings, valves, and other piping accessories. Experience with static and dynamic equipment used in process plants . Qualifications: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. 12-15 years of experience in estimation, fabrication, vendor management, and cost optimization within the process plant industry. Role & responsibilities : 1. Commissioning Active hands-on involvement in Process Plant Pre commissioning, Commissioning, Startup activities in co-ordination with Automation/ E&I team member & Customer Hands on Involvement in Plant audit as per P&ID along with installation engineer upon completion of Installation activities. Be the front face of Desmet to customer during commissioning phase. Co-ordinate with other Desmet team members for preparing Site reports during the commissioning and Pre-commissioning activities. Co-ordinate internally with Process and Project Management team for various guidance on the Project being handled for successful completion of the mission. Champion to understand the process issues & trouble-shoot the operations for continuous run. Hands-on experience in the process to develop plant upgradations / new add-on equipments to improve Clients Production efficiency. Co-ordinate with other Desmet team members for preparing periodic Site reports during the commissioning activities. Responsible & taking lead for clean Project Handover. Willing to travel extensively. Ability to liaison with stakeholders including Engineering, Process, Head office, site and customer to ensure smooth commissioning and Start-up. Develop Commissioning and Start-up Procedures, checklists and update existing procedures as would be required. .
