Deputy Manager - Process - Scrap Segregation Plant - Copper

Purpose/Objective

To manage the overall operational shift of the scrap segregation plant, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is responsible for coordinating process activities and leading the shift team.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• Shift operations management:

  Oversee daily production activities, ensuring the plant operates efficiently and meets all production targets. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and address any deviations promptly.

• Manpower management:

  Plan and organize manpower for the shift, manage day-to-day responsibilities, and motivate the team to achieve continuous improvement.

• Safety and compliance:

  Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conduct safety audits and lead the team in safe work practices.

• Quality control:

  Monitor process parameters to ensure the segregated copper scrap meets quality standards. Implement corrective actions for any quality deviations.

• Coordination:

  Coordinate with other departments such as maintenance, quality, and logistics to ensure a smooth workflow and minimize downtime.

• Reporting:

  Prepare detailed shift reports on production, quality, safety incidents, and equipment status. Maintain accurate operational logs and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education:

  Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience:

  5-8 years of experience in a plant operations role, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or shift in-charge position, preferably in a metals or recycling facility.

• Skills:

  Strong knowledge of manufacturing and process control. Experience with quality management systems (QMS), waste reduction strategies, and inventory control is a plus.

• Certifications:

  Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles is beneficial.
