Deck Cadet & GP Rating (Fresher)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Learning & Training:

• Actively participate in all assigned training modules and on-the-job learning, demonstrating eagerness to understand shipboard systems, procedures, and regulations.

Deck Operations:

• Assist in routine deck maintenance, including chipping, painting, cleaning, and general upkeep of deck areas.
• Learn and assist in mooring and unmooring operations, handling ropes and wires.
• Support cargo operations, including rigging, lashing, and securing cargo as directed.
• Participate in lookout duties and basic helmsman training under supervision.

Engine Room Operations (for GP Ratings with Engine Specialization):

• Assist engineers and ratings in routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and painting within the engine room.
• Learn to monitor basic machinery parameters and identify abnormalities.
• Support oil transfers and bunkering operations as instructed.

Safety and Emergency Preparedness:

• Actively participate in all safety drills (firefighting, abandon ship, man overboard, etc.) and emergency procedures.
• Learn and adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and international maritime conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL).
• Assist in the inspection and maintenance of life-saving and firefighting appliances.

General Shipboard Duties:

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas.
• Assist senior crew members with various tasks as required.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Develop an understanding of ship organization and departmental coordination.

Documentation:

• Assist in maintaining accurate logs and records as part of training and operational requirements.
