Database Architect

Job Description

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Database Architect to design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions. The ideal candidate will play a strategic role in defining the organizations data architecture roadmap, integrating new technologies, and ensuring alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities: Design and maintain logical and physical data models and architecture across multiple platforms. Develop strategies for data integration, data warehousing, and data governance. Define database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data security, quality, and availability. Collaborate with software engineers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, high-performance data infrastructure. Lead the selection and implementation of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, cloud DBs, etc.). Evaluate and recommend improvements for existing database systems and processes. Ensure optimal database performance through capacity planning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and tuning. Support backup and recovery, data migration, and disaster recovery planning. Maintain documentation of database systems and architecture. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in database development and architecture. Expert-level knowledge of relational databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL. Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis. Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, Lucidchart). Strong understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly their database services. Proven experience in performance tuning, scalability, and high availability. Solid understanding of data security practices and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: Certification in database technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, AWS Certified Database – Specialty). Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps culture.
