• Job Summary

  :
• We are seeking a Technical Lead / Database Architect with strong expertise in AWS RDS Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible) environments. The ideal candidate will

  architect, optimize, and scale distributed data systems on AWS

  - ensuring performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. While

  PostgreSQL

  knowledge remains important, this role focuses primarily on

  Auroras architecture, configuration, and operational

  excellence within large-scale, production-grade systems. You will partner with development, DevOps, and product teams to guide data layer design, lead optimization initiatives, and shape the overall database strategy across cloud workloads.

• Key Responsibilities

  :
• Lead the a

  rchitecture and optimization of AWS RDS Aurora clusters

  for high performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• Design and implement multi-AZ deployments,

  read replica strategies, and failover mechanisms for mission-critical workloads.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure

  query design, indexing, and schema strategies

  align with Auroras distributed storage model.
• Perform advanced performance tuning, connection management, and workload balancing across Aurora instances.
• Establish database governance, monitoring, and automation frameworks using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and AWS-native tools.
• Collaborate with architects and developers to ensure application-database interaction patterns are efficient and resilient.
• Guide the migration and modernization of PostgreSQL databases to Aurora.
• Conduct capacity planning, cost optimization, and benchmarking for data services.
• Mentor engineers on Aurora best practices, database performance analysis, and SQL optimization.
• Participate in architectural design reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, and data security standards are met.

• Required Skills & Qualifications

  :

• 10+ years of experience with relational databases, with at least 5 years focused on AWS RDS Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).

• Deep understanding of

  Aurora’s architecture, including storage engine, cluster endpoints, and failover mechanisms.

• Experience in

  Finetuning and Query optimisation

• Strong experience in query and schema optimization, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Hands-on expertise in

  RDS parameter tuning,

  connection pooling (pgBouncer / RDS Proxy), and Performance Insights.
• Solid grasp of data modeling, normalization, and designing for scale and high availability.
• Experience implementing automated monitoring, alerting, and backup strategies using AWS CloudWatch, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Strong collaboration skills across DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams to embed database best practices.
• Familiarity with migration tools such as AWS DMS or pg_dump/pg_restore for cloud transitions.

• Preferred Skills

  :
• Exposure to multi-region architectures, Aurora Global Database, and cross-region replication.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL internals and extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_partman, pg_stat_statements).
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and custom tooling.
• Understanding of microservices architectures and database access patterns in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with other AWS services like Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch Logs, and Secrets Manager.
