Database Administrator - DB2 DBA

Role Overview: As a DB2 DBA, your role involves various responsibilities to ensure the efficient functioning of the database system. You will be responsible for tasks such as database object creation and maintenance, data load and migration, database backup and recovery, database access and security control, support to application team, and performance monitoring and tuning. Key Responsibilities: - Database Object Creation and Maintenance: - Create, alter various DB2 objects such as Tablespaces, Tables, Stored procedures, Indexes etc. - Possess knowledge and expertise on DB2 utility execution. - Data Load and Migration: - Understand and execute data migration process from VSAM to DB2. - Unload data from DB2 tables using UNLOAD utility. - Load data from files to Tables using LOAD utility. - Unload data from Image copy using UNLOAD or other utilities. - Migrate data from one environment to another. - Database Back up and Recovery: - Set up and maintain Image Copy and other DB2 housekeeping jobs. - Capable of recovering data from Image Copy using RECOVER utility. - Database Access and Security Control: - Follow security and audit control procedures to GRANT/REVOKE permissions on database objects. - Understand and provide Group level access on DB2 objects to RACF user groups. - Support to Application Team: - Monitor and troubleshoot batch job failures. - Resolve all DB2 package related consistency token issues. - Assist the application team in resolving performance issues for the SQLs and/or Stored procedures. - Performance Monitoring and Tuning: - Monitor current active and historical threads using DB2 monitoring tool. - Identify potential bottleneck, lock contention in the active or historical threads and troubleshoot them. - Check overall Mainframe CPU utilization using SYSVIEW online panels. - Perform SQL tuning by rewriting the SQLs or designing appropriate indexes.
