Data Stage Developer

Job Summary:

The DataStage Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using IBM InfoSphere DataStage. The role involves integrating data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, and supporting data warehouse and analytics initiatives. The developer will work closely with data architects, analysts, and business teams to deliver reliable and high-performance data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ETL Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows using IBM InfoSphere DataStage (Parallel and Server jobs).
  
• Extract, transform, and load data from various sources such as databases, flat files, APIs, and cloud platforms.
  
• Implement complex business logic, data transformations, and validation rules as per requirements.
  
• Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  

2. Data Integration & Management:

• Integrate data across systems (ERP, CRM, transactional, and external sources) into enterprise data warehouses.
  
• Ensure data consistency, integrity, and availability across multiple environments.
  
• Support data migration, cleansing, and consolidation projects.
  

3. Testing & Deployment:

• Conduct unit, integration, and performance testing for ETL jobs.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve data or job failures in development, test, and production environments.
  
• Support deployment activities and coordinate with DevOps teams for ETL release management.
  

4. Documentation & Support:

• Create and maintain technical documentation including ETL design specifications, data mapping, and flow diagrams.
  
• Provide production support and resolve data-related issues promptly.
  
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to version control and coding standards.
  

5. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

• Work closely with data architects, database administrators, and business analysts to understand requirements.
  
• Suggest improvements to ETL processes, data quality frameworks, and automation.
  
• Stay updated with emerging data integration technologies and best practices.
  

• Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in DataStage (Parallel/Server/Sequencer jobs).
  
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc.).
  
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts (star schema, SCDs, normalization).
  
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting and job scheduling tools (Autosys, Control-M).
  
• Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
  
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, and metadata management tools is a plus.
