Data Science Engineer with OCR

Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled Data Science Engineer with specialization in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Microsoft Azure technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing scalable OCR solutions, leveraging both traditional image processing and modern deep learning techniques on the Azure ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and deploy OCR models to extract text and structured data from scanned documents, images, and PDFs. Work with Azure Cognitive Services (Form Recognizer, Computer Vision) and Custom Vision APIs to develop robust OCR pipelines. Implement scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Event Hubs. Build end-to-end solutions from data ingestion to analytics and visualization using Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Power BI. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate OCR capabilities into production applications. Apply post-processing NLP techniques to enhance OCR output (e.g., Named Entity Recognition, text classification, etc.). Ensure data security, compliance, and performance tuning on the Azure platform. Required Skills: Strong experience with OCR tools: Tesseract, EasyOCR, PaddleOCR, or equivalent. Expertise in Azure AI/ML services, especially Azure Form Recognizer and Azure Cognitive Search. Proficient in Python and relevant libraries: OpenCV, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy. Experience in Azure Machine Learning (AutoML, pipelines, compute instances). Hands-on with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD for model deployment. Solid understanding of image preprocessing, noise reduction, and layout analysis. Familiarity with document formats: PDFs, TIFFs, scanned images, handwritten notes, etc.
