Data Modeller

Overview

As a part of the data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, accurate, and efficient data models across various business domains to support reporting and insights delivery in Power BI. Working closely with product owners, data pipelines engineers, and architects, this role transforms complex source data into well-structured models that enable trusted, consistent decision-making across the organisation.

Responsibilities

Data Model Design & Development:

• Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business intelligence and analytics.
• Create reusable and scalable semantic models optimised for Power BI reporting.
• Apply best practices in dimensional modeling (e.g., star and snowflake schemas) to structure data efficiently.

Data Integration & Transformation

• Collaborate with data engineers to ingest and transform data from multiple source systems.
• Translate raw data into model-ready structures, ensuring compatibility with downstream tools and users.
• Support ETL/ELT mapping and contribute to defining source-to-target logic for model development.

Documentation & Governance

• Document data models, definitions, data flows, and metadata in a structured and accessible manner.

• Contribute to and help enforce data modelling standards and frameworks across the organisation.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Partner with cross-functional mydentist teams to understand and meet data requirements.

Performance Optimisation:

• Conduct data profiling and validation to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

Experience, Skills & Personal Attributes

Experience

• 5+ years in data modelling and working with scalable data systems.
• Proven track record of building enterprise grade data models for reporting and analytics.
• Experience working with Power BI datasets and large-scale business domains.
• Hands-on experience with complex data environments, including multiple source systems.

Skills

• Proficiency in SQL for data querying and transformation.
• Expertise in data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Familiarity with data integration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or similar).
• Understanding of BI tools and DAX for Power BI optimization.
• Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and modern data platforms.
• Experience with source-to-target mapping and model documentation.
• Agile experience (Kanban/Scrum).
