Data Governance Lead

Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance:

• Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
• Establish and maintain data stewardship frameworks, roles, and responsibilities across the organization.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with data governance standards, including regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Work closely with data owners and stakeholders to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.
• Define and manage data classifications, taxonomies, and metadata standards to facilitate proper usage and governance.

Data Discoverability:

• Build and maintain a robust data catalog to enable seamless discovery and access to organizational data assets.
• Enhance metadata management capabilities to support accurate tagging, lineage, and contextual information.
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to integrate data discoverability tools with existing data platforms.
• Drive the adoption of data discovery practices and tools among business and technical users.
• Implement AI/ML-driven solutions to enhance data searchability and context-based recommendations.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Define and track KPIs related to data governance and discoverability efforts (e.g., data quality metrics, user adoption).
• Regularly review and optimize governance and discovery processes to address changing business needs.
• Provide reports to senior leadership on the effectiveness and impact of data governance and discovery programs.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with data catalog and metadata management tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or similar).
• Experience with data discovery platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
• Knowledge of programming languages or query tools (e.g., SQL, Python, or similar) is a plus.
