Data Governance Lead

Role Overview: You will be joining the Central Data Office team within Customers & Products at bp as a Data Governance Lead. This role is crucial for bps data transformation, where you will be responsible for solving complex challenges and embedding governance across the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Act as a strategic leader in your area of expertise, owning governance frameworks to support business and regulatory needs. - Define and implement data standards, policies, and controls to ensure accurate, consistent, and trusted governed data across the organization. - Lead the definition and continuous improvement of data governance processes in alignment with bps enterprise data strategy. - Identify areas of improvement in data quality, structure, and usage and lead initiatives to resolve them using a data governance framework. - Collaborate with business and technical teams to embed governance into data lifecycle processes, including metadata, lineage, and classification. - Represent data governance in enterprise-wide forums and contribute to cross-business and cross-domain initiatives. Qualifications Required: - 12-15 years of professional data experience with expertise in data governance, data management, or enterprise data strategy. - Strong experience in data governance within complex organizations. - Deep expertise in Metadata & Data Cataloguing (Alation or similar tools), Data Quality (Anomalo or similar tools, rule engine development), or Master Data Management (SAP MDG, Semarchy). - Proven ability to lead data initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive change across business and technical teams. - Familiarity with data governance frameworks, tools, and practices. - Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. - Experience working in agile or matrix environments and managing delivery partners. - Certification or working knowledge of industry frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM is beneficial but not essential.
