Job Description

As a CRUK Research Fellow in the Cancer B-cell Group at the School of Cancer Sciences, University Hospital Southampton campus, you will play a crucial role in conducting research focused on tumour and/or normal B cell biology, antibody generation/manipulation, and development. Your responsibilities will include: - Testing recently developed antibodies and generating new antibodies targeting specific structures of the tumour B-cell receptor, particularly those of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and/or follicular lymphoma. - Utilizing these antibodies for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, which may involve understanding the mechanisms of disease mediated by the interaction of the tumour B-cell receptor and the environment. - Performing in vitro and potentially in vivo studies (animal models) to prepare for potential first-human studies. - Collaborating closely with the Cancer B-cell Group and Prof. Mark Cragg at the Antibody Vaccine Group, as well as international academic collaborators and industry partners. - Contributing to the academic development of the Cancer B-cell Group through activities such as preparing new grant applications and supervising junior staff and students. The position is full-time, funded by Cancer Research UK, and is fixed-term until 31st August 2027, with the possibility of renewal based on successful project applications. You will work in modern, well-equipped laboratories and have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of colleagues and collaborators both nationally and internationally.
