Role & responsibilities Cost Estimation & Analysis: Develop detailed cost models for automotive parts, assemblies, and full vehicles based on BOM (Bill of Materials), labor, overhead, and material inputs. Prepare cost estimates for new product introductions (NPIs), design changes, and customer quotes (RFQs). Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs and investigate root causes. Product Lifecycle Costing: Track and manage product costs from prototype through to mass production. Support make-or-buy decisions by evaluating internal vs. outsourced manufacturing costs. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to collect cost inputs and ensure accuracy of cost models. Participate in product development reviews to assess cost impact of design changes. Data Management & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date cost databases and systems . Provide cost breakdowns and reports to finance and management for decision-making. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency in manufacturing and supply chain. Support value engineering and bench-marking activities.
