Job Description

Society for Women’s Action and Training Initiatives (SWATI) www.swati.org.in

About the Project

The public health system is now recognised as one of the most critical sites for addressing domestic violence. Based on its extensive experience of working on Violence against Women (VAW), SWATI initiated in 2016 an intervention research project titled “Making Rural Health Care Delivery System Responsive to Violence against Women.”

As part of the project, Crisis Intervention and Support Cells for VAW survivors have been set up in government hospitals. Each cell is staffed with a counsellor and para-legal worker. The cells maintain an extensive database with an elaborate MIS to monitor and analyse functioning within the hospital system. Training and orientation of hospital staff and frontline health workers is integral to setting up the cell.

In two and a half years, the cells received 900+ cases. For 2023–2025, the goal is to consolidate the rural health modelfor policy advocacy and scale-up.

SWATI is recruiting women professionals with 2–3 years of experience for this project, which focuses on developing a rural health sector response to Violence Against Women (VAW).
