Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems. This role ensures the successful execution of manufacturing processes and projects while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve safety, efficiency, and quality objectives. Key Responsibilities: Develops manufacturing processes for the Cylinder Head/ConRod manufacturing line. Participates in equipment finalization, DAP, specification finalization, trials, and final commissioning at the plant. Improves layout and material flow for operational efficiency. Supports CAPEx and cash flow management in a timely manner. Monitors project progress, highlights risks, and develops corrective actions. Conducts team meetings and communicates effectively with site operations, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Quality, and supplier teams. Maintains project tracking and documentation to complete all New Business Startup (NBS) project steps. Maps supplier capacity and develops end-to-end Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for the new line. Supports the new line with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Cummins Manufacturing System (CMS), and Industry 4.0 requirements. Assists with the development and implementation of manufacturing standards and working methods using continuous improvement tools. Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments. Knowledge and Skills: Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet function needs and drive continuous improvement. Continuous Process Improvement: Identifies process inefficiencies and applies methodologies to reduce waste and improve quality. Equipment/Capital Procurement: Selects and integrates manufacturing equipment that aligns with Cummins manufacturing specifications. Process Documentation: Develops and maintains standardized manufacturing procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Health and Safety Fundamentals: Champions proactive health and safety behaviors to foster an injury-free workplace. Drawing Interpretation: Integrates product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to develop optimal manufacturing processes. Manufacturing Analysis Led Design: Utilizes digital tools for modeling and simulating manufacturing processes to make data-driven decisions. Tool and Fixture Design: Selects appropriate work-piece-holding devices to ensure precision and safety in manufacturing operations. Workstation Design: Designs operator workstations that are ergonomic, safe, and cost-effective. Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design: Implements ergonomic controls to enhance workplace safety and efficiency. Problem Solving: Uses systematic analysis and industry-standard methodologies to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges. Collaboration & Communication: Builds partnerships and communicates effectively across teams to meet shared objectives. Facilitate communication with site operations, Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Quality, and supplier teams. Track and document project milestones to ensure successful completion of New Business Startup (NBS) projects. Conduct supplier capacity mapping and create end-to-end Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for new lines. Support the implementation of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and Industry 4.0 technologies for new manufacturing lines. Apply continuous improvement tools and methodologies to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align project objectives and deliverables. Coach and mentor team members while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
