Position Objective:

The Compliance Officer – Audit, Sustainability & Certification will ensure that ITL India’s operations strictly adhere to all buyer compliance requirements, sustainability standards, environmental norms, chemical management protocols, and global certifications.
This role is central to maintaining continuous compliance readiness for all buyer, third-party, and social audits and ensuring sustainable manufacturing practices in line with ITL Global’s ESG strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Buyer & Third-Party Audit Compliance

• Act as the primary lead for all buyer, brand, and third-party audits, including social, environmental, CTPAT, and technical audits.
• Maintain audit readiness at all times by ensuring compliance documentation, SOPs, and factory practices are up to date.
• Liaise with buyers’ auditors (e.g., H&M, Levi’s, Nike, Decathlon, etc.) and certification agencies to ensure successful audit outcomes.
• Coordinate internal pre-audits and mock audits with department heads to identify and close gaps proactively.
• Prepare and maintain an Audit Compliance Calendar for all recurring and new audits.
• Maintain records of audit CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) and follow up on timely closures.

2. Sustainability & ESG Implementation

• Implement ITL’s Sustainability Roadmap across departments in alignment with Group ESG and SDG goals.
• Track and report carbon footprint, waste management, water conservation, and energy usage metrics.
• Support initiatives like waste segregation, chemical substitution, renewable energy adoption, and ETP efficiency.
• Liaise with global sustainability teams to align Indian operations with corporate sustainability objectives.
• Prepare annual sustainability compliance reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

3. Chemical & Ink Management (ZDHC / OEKO-TEX®)

• Ensure that all inks, adhesives, coatings, and consumables used in the label production process meet OEKO-TEX®, ZDHC MRSL, and REACH compliance standards.
• Maintain updated Chemical Inventory List (CIL) with supplier declarations, SDS, and traceability documentation.
• Conduct periodic verification of batch traceability, ensuring non-usage of banned or restricted substances.
• Coordinate with Ink Room / Production Team to ensure proper labeling, storage, usage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Work with vendors and procurement to source eco-compliant inks and materials only from approved suppliers.
• Maintain records of testing reports from ITL-approved laboratories for all relevant raw materials.

4. OEKO-TEX®, GRS, FSC & Other Certifications

• Ensure the company’s manufacturing facility retains valid certifications such as OEKO-TEX®, GRS, FSC, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, etc.
• Handle all documentation, renewal, and re-certification processes, coordinating with certifying bodies.
• Maintain traceability documentation for recycled materials (for GRS) and ensure Chain of Custody (CoC) compliance.
• Conduct internal system audits to verify adherence to certification criteria across departments.
• Support Group-level initiatives for product sustainability claims validation and buyer certification approvals.

5. Internal Compliance Audits

• Conduct monthly internal audits covering health, safety, environmental, and social compliance parameters.
• Prepare detailed audit reports and present compliance status to management.
• Verify compliance with Indian statutory laws: Factories Act, Labour Laws, EHS Norms, Waste Disposal Rules, and Pollution Control Board requirements.
• Ensure mandatory registers, licenses, and periodic returns are up to date and displayed as per regulations.
• Collaborate with HR, EHS, and Production Heads to strengthen compliance culture.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain a centralized compliance documentation system – policies, licenses, certifications, audit reports, and CAPA trackers.
• Generate monthly and quarterly compliance dashboards summarizing audit status, sustainability KPIs, and certifications.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to Global ITL Compliance and Sustainability Team.
• Maintain a supplier compliance database and track supplier sustainability performance.

7. Training & Awareness

• Conduct compliance and sustainability awareness programs for employees at all levels.
• Organize regular training sessions on chemical handling, PPE, waste segregation, emergency preparedness, and ethical workplace conduct.
• Engage suppliers and contractors in sustainability practices through supplier training and evaluation programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science / Chemistry / Law / Industrial Safety / Management.
• Preferred: Diploma or Certification in Compliance, Sustainability, or Social Audit (SA8000, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OEKO-TEX®, ZDHC, or similar)..
• Working knowledge of audit portals (Sedex, Higg Index, ZDHC Gateway) preferred.
• Familiar with Factory EHS requirements, Legal Register Maintenance, and Buyer Code of Conduct Implementation.

Work Environment & Travel

• Base: Peenya Industrial Area, Bengaluru.
• Regular internal factory rounds and supplier visits.
• Occasional travel to other ITL units or external labs/auditors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
