Overview:
Commvault Backup Administrator need to manage and maintain data backup and recovery systems using the Commvault software platform. Key responsibilities include configuring and monitoring backup policies, troubleshooting failures, performing data restores, testing disaster recovery plans, and optimizing storage. The role requires expertise in Commvault software, storage technologies, networking concepts, and operating systems, as well as skills in scripting and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
Commvault Environment Management: Install, configure, and maintain the Commvault CommServe, MediaAgents, and client agents on Windows and Linux platforms.
Backup & Restore Operations: Perform daily backups, monitor job performance, validate backup integrity, and execute data restores as needed.
Disaster Recovery (DR): Develop, document, and regularly test DR plans to ensure business continuity.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues with backup failures, restore errors, replication problems, and storage performance.
Storage & Policy Management: Manage backup storage, configure various Commvault policies (storage, schedule, retention), and ensure efficient storage usage.
Performance Optimization: Optimize backup processes using features like multiplexing, multi-streaming, and disk staging.
System Maintenance: Apply software updates, perform routine maintenance, and manage Commvault license compliance.
Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps, and generate reports on backup status and performance.
Collaboration: Work with IT teams to implement best practices, resolve cross-functional issues, and provide expert support.
Requirements:
Commvault Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Commvault software features, including the Java GUI and Admin Console.
Operating Systems: Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Storage & Networking: Understanding of storage systems (SAN, NAS, NetApp) and networking concepts.
Scripting: Experience with advanced scripting, especially PowerShell.
Cloud: Working knowledge of cloud backup solutions (e.g., Azure Backup).
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Communication: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
