CNC Operator - Carbon Fiber

Primary Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC milling/drilling machines for composite part machining.
• Load/unload cured laminate panels and fixtures safely on the CNC machine.
• Adjust tools, offsets, and fixtures to ensure correct machining operations.
• Execute machining programs and monitor cycle progress.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAM programs, and work instructions.
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments (vernier callipers, micrometres, gauges).
• Ensure tolerances, surface finish, and flatness are within specified limits.
• Maintain machining records, process logs, and inspection data.
• Conduct pre-operation checks of CNC machines, tools, and coolant systems.
• Perform basic maintenance (tool changes, cleaning, lubrication).
• Report machine faults, tool wear, or fixture issues promptly.
• Able to Calculate and control machining factors like speed, feed, depth of cut and coolant flow.
• Adhere to safety protocols when handling CFRP laminates, including dust extraction and PPE use.

• Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Familiarity with G-code, basic CAM operations, and CNC controllers (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of composite material machining (dust extraction, tool wear behavior, finishing requirements).
• Ability to independently set up CNC machines and adjust programs.
• Hands-on experience with fixturing composite laminates and thin parts.
• Understanding of machining parameters or CFRP (feed, speed, tool selection).
• Knowledge of CNC machine troubleshooting and tool life management.
• Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
• Awareness of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) practices for carbon fiber dust handling.
• Able to work in shifts as per the production schedule.

2.

• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Production, Tool & Die, Machinist or related field.
• 5+ years of experience operating CNC machining centers (preferably in composites, aerospace, or precision manufacturing).
