Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Monitoring & Alert Management:

  • Monitor infrastructure (Windows, Linux, VMware, AWS) using tools like

    SolarWinds

    ,

    Splunk

    , and

    Uptrends

    .
  • Acknowledge, validate, and respond to alerts for CPU, memory, disk space, service availability, and cloud instance health.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting: ping tests, service status checks, console access validation, and VM status review.
  • Escalate issues to L2/engineering teams as per SOP.

Cloud & Virtualization Support:

  • Monitor

    AWS EC2 instance health

    , availability, and connectivity via AWS Console.
  • Validate

    vCenter alerts

    , ESXi host connectivity, datastore usage, and VM power status.
  • Support incident triage for newly migrated AWS environments.

Network & Connectivity Monitoring:

  • Respond to basic network-related alerts such as

    link down

    ,

    high latency

    , and

    interface errors

    .
  • Understand and troubleshoot basic networking issues (ping, traceroute, DNS resolution, link status).
  • Work with network monitoring data to escalate WAN/ILL/ISP issues to internal teams or vendors as needed.
  • Ensure alert routing and network device health is properly reported on dashboards.

Operational Tasks & Tools:

  • Create and update

    ServiceNow tickets

    for incidents, outages, and routine monitoring tasks.
  • Use

    iDRAC

    or equivalent tools for remote access and hardware health checks.
  • Support patch window readiness by validating service status and rebooting post-maintenance.
  • Participate in shift handovers, maintain incident logs, and contribute to team documentation.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Basic hands-on experience with

    Windows Server and Linux OS

    monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to

    VMware ESXi/vCenter

    and virtual infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with

    AWS

    (console navigation, EC2 monitoring).
  • Fundamental understanding of

    network technologies

    , including:
    • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ICMP, basic routing and switching
    • Ping/traceroute and packet path troubleshooting
    • Concept of LAN/WAN/Firewall/Load Balancer
  • Experience using

    SolarWinds

    ,

    Splunk

    , or similar infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a

    24x7 rotational shift model

    , including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to incident handling protocols.
