Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Clinical Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and monitoring customized nutritional care for patients dealing with psychiatric illnesses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and substance abuse recovery. Key Responsibilities Assess nutritional status of psychiatric patients through dietary recalls, lab results, and medical history. Develop individualized diet plans considering psychiatric medications and side effects (e.g., weight gain, appetite changes, metabolic issues). Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing staff to support holistic patient care. Provide nutritional counseling to patients and their families on balanced diets, food behavior, and lifestyle changes. Monitor patient progress and adjust diet plans as needed. Educate staff and patients on the role of nutrition in mental health. Assist in planning hospital menus and supervise food services to ensure quality and compliance with dietary needs. Keep accurate records and contribute to patient documentation and reports. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from a recognized institution. Registered Dietitian (RD) certification is preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in a clinical or hospital setting; experience in psychiatric/mental health care is a plus. Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition related to mental health. Excellent communication and counseling skills. Empathy, patience, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Added Advantage Experience working with patients having eating disorders or substance use disorders. Familiarity with nutritional impacts of psychiatric medications. Experience conducting group sessions or awareness programs on mental health and diet.
