CDL Driver

As a CDL Driver at Charter Manufacturing, your role will involve picking up and delivering scrap metal to and from local customer sites. You will be responsible for safely operating flatbeds, dump trailers, and roll-offs, ensuring that loads are properly strapped down and secured. It will be essential for you to keep accurate logs of mileage, hours, fuel, etc., complete vehicle inspections, and report any issues that may arise. Effective communication with the Logistics & Scale Manager and customers will also be a part of your daily responsibilities. Additionally, maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of your truck is crucial for successful operations. Key Responsibilities: - Pick up and deliver scrap metal locally - Operate flatbeds, dump trailers, and roll-offs safely - Secure loads properly with straps - Maintain accurate logs and complete vehicle inspections - Communicate with the Logistics & Scale Manager and customers - Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the truck Qualifications Required: - Class A CDL - Minimum 2 years of experience with flatbed and tractor trailer work - Clean driving record - Ability to pass a DOT drug screen - Knowledge of Niles, Warren, Youngstown, and Northeast Ohio area - Experience with dump trailers and roll-offs is a plus - Strong communication and basic problem-solving skills If you have experience hauling scrap metal, familiarity with ELD systems, and a willingness to assist in other yard areas when required, it would be considered a plus. Please note that the role may involve physical requirements such as climbing in and out of the truck, sitting for extended periods, walking, standing, bending, kneeling on varied surfaces and weather conditions, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.
