The CAD Designer position involves the responsibility of developing and maintaining complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and associated 2D drawings with moderate to heavy supervision. The primary focus will be updating truck body designs and generating Solidworks 2D manufacturing drawings following standardized features, materials, and methods. This role will handle projects of moderate complexity while closely collaborating with Design Engineering for guidance. You will be required to create new custom truck body and truck upfit accessory CAD models and assemblies using best practice modeling techniques. Furthermore, you will need to develop and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings adhering to engineering drawing standards. It will be essential to organize CAD file structures in Enterprise PDM based on the defined folder structure, naming convention, and BOM strategy. Additionally, creating simplified Sales Drawing layouts for client approval and managing engineering drawing releases in coordination with the Manufacturing team will be part of the responsibilities. To qualify for this role, you should hold an Associates Degree in a Technical Field related to CAD Design, Engineering Technology, Product Design, or Manufacturing Technology. Equivalent work experience and skills will also be considered. Proficiency in Solidworks or a similar 3D CAD package is required, along with familiarity with Enterprise PDM or an equivalent Product Data Management tool. Moreover, expertise in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point is preferred. Essential skills for this position include AutoCAD, 3D Modeling, Enterprise PDM, Solidworks, and knowledge in sheet metal design. A working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric design and tolerance) on manufacturing drawings is considered an advantage. Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience in 3D modeling, design, and manufacturing drawings. Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals, previous experience with Solidworks, and designing for sheet metal and/or fabrications will be beneficial. In terms of planning and organizing, the role requires a proactive and organized approach to multitasking and prioritization. The ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines with some guidance, while demonstrating accuracy, thoroughness, and commitment to quality work is essential. Adaptability to new assignments, processes, and challenges is crucial, alongside professionalism and composure in facing obstacles.
