Book Layout & Design Specialist

As a Book Designer at Safety Troop, you will play a crucial role in bringing our publications to life with your creativity and attention to detail. You will collaborate closely with the content and illustrations team to design and format books for both print and digital platforms. Your responsibilities will include: - Collaborating with the content and illustrations team to design and format books for print and digital publishing. - Creating visually consistent and professional layouts, focusing on typography, spacing, and placement of text and images. - Ensuring alignment with Safety Troop's brand style and target audience. - Preparing files for print and digital formats, such as PDF, InDesign package, ePub, and Kindle. - Providing creative input for cover and interior design improvements when necessary. - Working with editors, illustrators, and project leads to maintain accuracy and quality standards. - Managing multiple design projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines effectively. To be successful in this role, you should have: - Proven experience as a Book Designer, Layout Designer, or Graphic Designer in publishing or related fields. - Proficiency in Adobe InDesign (essential), Photoshop, and Illustrator. - Strong knowledge of typesetting, typography, and page layout design principles. - Familiarity with preparing books for print and eBook formats. - Attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. - A creative mindset that balances design aesthetics with readability. Preferred qualifications for this position include: - Prior experience in educational, psychology, or children's book design. - Knowledge of accessibility standards in publishing. - Experience working with multilingual text (optional).
