BMT Staff Nurse

• Patient Care:

  Assess, monitor, and provide direct care; manage symptoms and side effects; administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood, IVs.

• Education:

  Explain diagnoses, treatments, lifestyle adjustments, and care plans to patients and families.

• Coordination:

  Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team (oncologists, surgeons, radiation therapists).

• Emotional Support:

  Offer empathy, build trust, and provide psychosocial support for patients and families facing difficult diagnoses.

• Treatment Management:

  Interpret protocols, prepare/administer high-risk medications, manage ports, and coordinate complex schedules (e.g., radiation).

• Documentation:

  Maintain detailed health records, monitor vitals, and record patient progress.

• Advocacy:

  Advocate for patient needs and ensure their values are considered in care decisions.
