BIM Structural Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Structural Modeling & Documentation:

• Develop and manage high-quality, clash-free 3D BIM models for structural elements using Revit (or other BIM tools).
  
• Prepare structural shop drawings, general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, and fabrication drawings as per project requirements.
  
• Ensure structural models align with architectural and MEP models in coordination workflows.
  
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.
  
• Attend coordination meetings and provide clash detection reports using tools like Navisworks or BIM 360.
  
• Incorporate markups, RFIs, and design revisions efficiently into the structural BIM model.
  
• Ensure compliance with international BIM standards such as ISO 19650, BS 1192, or project-specific BEPs.
  
• Develop and follow company and client-specific BIM execution plans and model progression specifications (LOD).
  
• Perform quantity take-offs and support the estimation team with BOQs derived from models.
  
• Manage BIM deliverables and model versions using CDEs (e.g., BIM 360, Autodesk Docs, ACC).
  
• Deliver accurate model data to support construction, fabrication, and site coordination needs.
  
• Stay updated with BIM tools, plugins, and structural design integration (e.g., Robot, ETABS, Tekla).
  
• Recommend process improvements or automation where applicable.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  
• Hands-on experience in structural BIM modeling and documentation.
  
• Proficiency in Revit (Structural), AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360, or similar BIM platforms.
  
• Exposure to structural analysis/modeling tools (like ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or Tekla Structures) is a plus.
  
• Experience working on international projects (especially GCC) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with LOD specifications and BIM execution plans.
