BIM Modeller / Design Draughtsman - Electrical

Job Description

Ensure that the design and drawings are prepared in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and other contract documents. Co-ordinate the Electrical services with the building layouts and other services. Ensure that the drawings should comply all the requirements pertaining to the presentation, neatness and aesthetic view. Ensure that the drawings are prepared within the productivity norms. Key Responsibilities Ensure the accuracy and technical correctness of the design and coordination of the working drawings produced. Prepare the working drawings in accordance with the project and company standards and specifications. Co-ordinate the Electrical drawings with the civil and architectural layouts. Co-ordinate the Electrical services with the Airconditioning, plumbing and fire fighting services, including preparation of multiservice details. Resolution of technical difficulties with the professional team. Resolution of technical difficulties with the site team as directed by the Project Engineer. Design works required by the contract. Obtain drawing approval from the professional team. Issue the approved drawings to site. Maintain the working drawing register for the Electrical drawings. Participate in preparation and implement quality assurance plans. Preparation of record drawings. Identification of additional works and advice the Project Engineer to enable formal instructions to be obtained. Key Skills - Detailed engineering knowledge in the design and engineering of Medium, Low and Extra Low Electrical services for major commercial and light industrial buildings in the GCC. The services would include the following systems: MV power including switchgear, transformer and cabling. LV power including panels, distribution boards, cable containment, cables, Wiring and supply accessories. Lighting and emergency lighting including light fittings, controls and central battery system. Fire Alarm Security system including CCTV and access control. Voice and Data Standby Power Generation Uninterrupted power supply Building Management System (BMS) Solar Power System Earthing and Lightning protection Understanding of the method of construction of buildings. Outline knowledge of the electrical and other mechanical service installations in buildings. Ability to communicate effectively in English - both orally and in writing Developed computer skills, particularly in computer aided drafting packages spreadsheets and databases. Detailed design ability to undertake load distribution, cable and protection device selection and sizing calculations etc. Detailed knowledge of International, Dubai and Abu Dhabi codes of practice, regulations, and specifications for the construction industry with particular knowledge of the Municipal and Civil Defense requirements. Ability to read, understand, visualize and interpret drawings and specifications. An active personality, able to interact freely with his peers. Education - Diploma in Electrical engineering / ITI Full time Course along with: Approved training in Electrical Trade Approved training from a reputed institute in computer aided drafting packages particularly, Revit / Auto Cad and Microstation. Knowledge of BIM softwares such as Navisworks is must. Experience - 8 to 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years in the preparation of Electrical construction drawings for buildings. Minimum 2 years of international experience, preferably in GCC countries. Minimum 2 years of experience in Revit and 3D modeling. Site experience in installation / execution would be an advantage. Ensure that the design and drawings are prepared in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and other contract documents.Knowledge of BIM softwares such as Navisworks is must. Undertakes the detailed design and preparation of working drawings for the Electrical works for major commercial and light industrial buildings.
