Role & responsibilities BI Developer (Tableau & Looker Expert)Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with expertise in Tableau and Looker to develop and optimize data visualizations, reports, and dashboards that drive business decision-making. This role will be responsible for data modeling, dashboard development, and performance optimization , ensuring seamless data accessibility and insights across the organization. Key Responsibilities BI Development & Dashboarding Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau and Looker to visualize key business metrics. Create intuitive, user-friendly visualizations for sales, marketing, operations, and finance teams . Understanding of best practices for visual storytelling and data interpretation. Design and maintain LookML models, Tableau extracts, and data connections for efficient reporting. Proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Server, and Tableau Prep for data visualization and ETL processes. Experience with Tableau Data Extracts (TDE) and Tableau Server configurations. Data Integration & ETL Work with data engineers to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources (SQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.) . Develop custom LookML models and Tableau data sources for self-service analytics. Ensure proper data governance, quality, and security in BI solutions. Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting Optimize dashboard performance , including query tuning, caching, and data model improvements. Troubleshoot reporting issues, slow queries, and data inconsistencies . Implement best practices for BI development and report automation. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with business users to understand reporting needs and translate them into actionable BI solutions. Provide training and support to non-technical users for self-service BI adoption. Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to improve BI workflows. Preferred candidate profile Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise 5+ years of experience in BI development using Tableau and Looker . Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformations, and performance tuning. Hands-on experience with LookML modeling, Tableau Server/Cloud, and data visualization best practices . Familiarity with ETL processes and cloud data platforms (Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, etc.) . Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for BI tools. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment . Excellent communication and collaboration skills with business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience in retail, wholesale, finance, or supply chain analytics . Tableau Certified Developer / Looker Certified Expert is a plus. Knowledge of Python or R for advanced analytics . Experience integrating BI tools with ERP and CRM systems .
