Job Description: The Head Solvent & Refinery is responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the Solvent Extraction Plant (SEP) and Oil Refinery Unit. This includes ensuring optimal production, quality control, compliance, cost-efficiency, and safety. The role requires strong leadership, process expertise, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Duties and Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Lead and manage daily operations of the Solvent Extraction Plant and Refinery. Ensure achievement of production targets with focus on quality, yield, and efficiency. Oversee planning and coordination of raw material procurement and finished product dispatch. Technical & Process Management: Monitor and optimize processes for solvent extraction, degumming, neutralization, bleaching, dewaxing, and deodorization. Implement process improvements to enhance recovery, reduce energy consumption, and minimize wastage. Troubleshoot plant issues and liaise with technical teams for preventive and corrective actions. Team Management: Lead, train, and develop a team of engineers, supervisors, and operators. Promote a culture of safety, discipline, and accountability within the team. Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to food safety standards, environmental norms, and statutory regulations. Coordinate with QA/QC for product testing, lab reports, and certifications. Maintain documentation for audits (FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, etc.). Cost & Resource Management: Monitor utility consumption (steam, electricity, hexane) and control operating costs. Prepare budgets and control production overheads. Project Execution: Collaborate with project teams for new installations, capacity expansions, or upgrades. Ensure timely execution of projects with minimal production disruption. Qualifications and Experience: B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Oil Technology, or a related field. Strong technical knowledge in solvent extraction and edible oil refining processes. 15 years of experience with automation systems (SCADA/DCS) is preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Proven ability to drive process optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
