Backend Engineer Intern

As a Backend Developer at The Pixel Mind, your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining backend services using Node.js and Express.js. You will be tasked with creating and managing RESTful APIs connected to PostgreSQL databases. Collaboration with frontend developers (React) and other team members is essential to build scalable web applications. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, encompassing coding, testing, debugging, and deployment. Additionally, working on database design, optimization, and query tuning with PostgreSQL will be part of your role. Contribution to code reviews, documentation, and Agile development processes is expected, as well as troubleshooting backend issues and implementing improvements under senior engineer guidance. To excel in this role, you should be pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Basic to intermediate proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js is required. Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases and SQL query writing is essential. An understanding of REST API principles and integration is also necessary. Experience or interest in working with the full PERN stack is considered a plus. Exposure to version control systems (Git) and collaboration tools is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, an eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment, good communication skills, and a team collaboration mindset are key attributes we are looking for. Preferred qualifications include experience with frontend technologies like React.js, knowledge of Docker, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or CI/CD pipelines, and personal or academic projects showcasing backend development skills on the PERN stack.
