The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of server-side logic, database architecture, and API development, with a strong focus on creating reliable, secure, and scalable backends that power high-performance mobile applications. You’ll work closely with a frontend developer proficient in React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, mobile UI/UX, and API integrations — so clear communication, API-first thinking, and an agile mindset are essential. Responsibilities: API Development & Integration: Design, build, and maintain RESTful or GraphQL APIs that power mobile applications. Ensure seamless data flow and clear documentation for frontend consumption. Database Management: Design and manage relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases for reliability, scalability, and performance. System Architecture: Design secure and scalable backend systems that integrate smoothly with React Native apps. Authentication & Security: Implement secure authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.) and follow best practices to protect user data. Collaborative Development: Work closely with frontend developers to align on data contracts, error handling, and performance needs. Code Quality & Reviews: Write clean, modular, and testable code. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices. Monitoring & Debugging: Set up logging, monitoring, and error tracking systems. Debug and resolve backend issues efficiently. Deployment & DevOps: Deploy backend services using tools like Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for backend services, APIs, and architectural decisions. Skills & Qualifications: Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in Node.js, Python, Go, or similar backend languages and frameworks (e.g., Express.js, Django, FastAPI). API Design: Experience in building scalable RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs with proper versioning, rate limiting, and validation. Database Expertise: Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, with ability to write optimized queries and design scalable schemas. Authentication & Security: Familiarity with token-based authentication, role-based access, data encryption, and secure coding practices. Version Control: Proficient in Git and comfortable working in collaborative version-controlled environments. Testing: Experience with automated testing (e.g., Mocha, Chai, Pytest) and writing unit/integration tests. Performance Optimization: Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in backend systems. DevOps & Deployment: Familiar with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms for app deployment and maintenance. Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working in agile teams alongside frontend developers, designers, and product managers. Nice to Have: Experience with Firebase, Supabase, or Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms. Familiarity with mobile-specific backend challenges like push notifications, file uploads, or offline sync.
