Automation Test Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure the quality and functionality of software applications. They work closely with software developers and manual testers to create automated testing solutions that help improve testing efficiency, accuracy, and coverage. Design, develop, and implement automated test scripts using automation tools like Selenium, TestComplete, JUnit, TestNG, etc. Write and maintain reusable, efficient, and robust test scripts for various applications (web, mobile, desktop). Collaborate with developers to create appropriate test scenarios based on user stories and requirements. Execute automated tests and report defects or issues found during the execution process. Monitor the automated test execution in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and ensure tests are integrated into the build process. Identify, document, and track defects in a bug-tracking system (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.). Provide detailed defect reports, including steps to reproduce, severity, and root cause analysis. Develop a comprehensive automation test strategy and plan for both functional and non-functional testing. Review test requirements and identify areas for automation, balancing test coverage and efficiency. Work with manual testers, developers, product managers, and business analysts to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Provide feedback and recommendations on the overall quality of the product based on test results. Maintain and update automated test scripts as the product evolves. Continuously improve test automation frameworks, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and execute automated performance tests to ensure that applications meet performance and scalability standards. Document test cases, test procedures, and automation frameworks to ensure knowledge sharing and test repeatability. Provide guidance and support to team members on test automation best practices. Stay current on automation tools, frameworks, and industry trends.
