Fixed Asset Audit Team Leader

Job Summary

The Fixed Asset Audit Team Leader is responsible for planning, leading, and executing fixed asset audits to ensure the existence, accuracy, valuation, and compliance of fixed assets with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves supervising audit staff, coordinating physical verifications, identifying control gaps, and recommending improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Audit Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute annual and  fixed asset audit plans.
  • Lead physical verification of fixed assets across locations and reconcile results with fixed asset registers.
  • Review asset capitalization, depreciation, impairment, transfers, disposals, and write-offs.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, train and supervise fixed asset audit team members.
  • Assign audit tasks, review working papers, and ensure audit quality and timelines.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and performance feedback to team members.

Risk Assessment & Controls

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls over fixed assets.
  • Identify audit findings, control weaknesses, and process inefficiencies.
  • Recommend corrective actions and process improvements.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare and review audit reports with clear observations and recommendations.
  • Discuss audit findings with management and follow up on remediation actions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, IT).

Systems & Data Management

  • Review fixed asset management systems and ERP modules .
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of fixed asset master data.
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives related to asset tracking.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or auditing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and audit methodologies.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred).
  • Ability to travel for physical verification audits, if required.
