Pre-Installation Site Surveys: Visit sites to meticulously assess existing electrical infrastructure, power availability, and overall site conditions before any new electrical installations begin. Gather precise measurements, identify the best routes for cables and conduits, and determine requirements for switchgear, transformers, lighting, and other components. Evaluate site accessibility, logistical considerations, and potential electrical safety hazards. Prepare detailed survey reports, including photos, sketches, and recommendations for optimal electrical design. 2. Inspection and Quality Assurance: Regularly inspect ongoing electrical installation work to ensure it aligns with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Verify the correct installation of wiring, conduits, cables, panels, distribution boards, earthing systems, and lighting fixtures. Perform visual checks, continuity tests, insulation resistance tests, earth resistance tests, and other critical electrical tests using specialized equipment. Identify and document any deviations, defects, or non-conformities, then recommend corrective actions. 3. Documentation and Reporting: Create comprehensive and accurate survey reports, inspection checklists, defect lists, and progress updates. Maintain detailed records of all measurements, observations, test results, and correspondence related to electrical surveys and inspections. Help prepare as-built drawings and necessary documentation. Clearly present your findings and recommendations to project managers, clients, and other stakeholders. 4. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all electrical works fully comply with national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices. Actively promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, identifying and mitigating electrical hazards. Stay up-to-date with the latest changes in electrical standards, regulations, and technologies. 5. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with electrical engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution. Provide technical advice and guidance on electrical installation methods, materials, and potential issues. Participate in site meetings and discussions concerning the electrical aspects of projects. 6. Post-Installation / Operational Surveys (as required): Conduct surveys for existing electrical systems to assess their condition, efficiency, compliance, and identify needs for maintenance, upgrades, or fault diagnosis. Perform thermal imaging surveys to pinpoint hot spots and potential electrical failures.
