Associate Professor Microbiology

Position Summary:

We are inviting applications for the position of Associate Professor in Microbiology. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in medical microbiology, a strong background in teaching and research, and a commitment to academic excellence. The role includes teaching, research, mentoring, and administrative responsibilities as per institutional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:Teaching:

• Deliver high-quality lectures, practicals, and tutorials in Medical Microbiology to undergraduate (MBBS, BDS, BSc) and postgraduate (MD Microbiology) students.
• Develop and update course content in line with curriculum changes and advancements in microbiology.
• Supervise laboratory sessions and ensure safe, accurate, and effective learning experiences.
• Mentor junior faculty and guide students in academic and research projects.

Research:

• Lead independent and collaborative research projects in microbiology and related disciplines.
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national/international conferences.
• Apply for external funding and contribute to the department’s research profile.
• Supervise PG dissertations, Ph.D. candidates (if applicable), and promote a research-oriented culture.

Administrative:

• Assist the Head of Department in planning, coordination, and management of departmental activities.
• Participate in institutional committees, curriculum development, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Contribute to NAAC/NMC/UGC or other accreditation and regulatory compliance processes.
• Organize workshops, seminars, and CME programs for faculty development and academic enrichment.

Other Responsibilities:

• Uphold academic integrity and professional standards within the department.
• Engage in continuous professional development and faculty training.
• Foster a collaborative and student-centered learning environment.

Qualifications: Essential:

• MBBS with MD in Microbiology from a recognized medical institution.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology (or as per NMC/UGC norms).
• At least 2-4 publications in indexed/national/international journals as per regulatory requirements.
