As an Associate Analyst at Mastercard Economics Institute, your role will involve contributing to economic thought leadership by utilizing your R programming skills. You will be responsible for creating clear and compelling data visualizations to communicate economic insights effectively to diverse audiences. Your key responsibilities will include: - Developing reusable R functions and packages to support analysis and automation - Creating and formatting analytical content using R Markdown and/or Quarto - Designing and building scalable Shiny apps - Developing interactive visualizations using JavaScript charting libraries (e.g. Plotly, Highcharts, D3.js) or front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, Vue.js) - Working with databases and data platforms such as SQL, Hadoop - Writing clear, well-documented code for easy understanding and maintenance - Collaborating using Git for version control To excel in this role, you should be proficient in R and the RStudio IDE, with knowledge of R packages like dplyr for data cleaning, transformation, and aggregation. Familiarity with dependency management and documentation in R (e.g. roxygen2), version control concepts and tools (e.g. Git, GitHub, Bitbucket), and experience in writing SQL and working with relational databases will be beneficial. Your creative mindset, passion for data, coding, and technology, along with strong collaboration skills, will be essential for success in this position. You should be organized, able to prioritize work across multiple projects, and comfortable working with engineers, product owners, data scientists, and economists.
