Job Title: PPC Assistant Manager

Department:

Job Purpose

The PPC Assistant Manager – Heavy Structure Division is responsible for effective production planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control of fabrication and erection activities related to heavy structures. The role ensures optimum utilization of resources, on-time delivery, inventory control, and coordination with production, quality, stores, and dispatch teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Prepare and monitor

    production plans

    for heavy structural fabrication (columns, beams, girders, trusses, etc.).
  • Develop

    daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules

    based on project priorities and delivery commitments.
  • Break down drawings and BOQs into

    fabrication and erection schedules

    .
  • Track production progress against plans and take corrective actions for deviations.

Material Planning & Control

  • Coordinate with

    stores and procurement

    for timely availability of raw materials (plates, sections, consumables).
  • Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
  • Ensure proper

    inventory control

    and stock reconciliation.

Coordination & Monitoring

  • Coordinate with

    production, welding, blasting, painting, and erection teams

    for smooth workflow.
  • Liaise with

    engineering/drawing, QA/QC, and dispatch

    departments to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Monitor subcontractor production performance, if applicable.

Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare and submit

    daily production reports, weekly progress reports, and monthly MIS

    .
  • Analyze production efficiency, manpower utilization, and machine capacity.
  • Maintain PPC records, job cards, and production data in ERP/Excel systems.

Dispatch & Project Support

  • Plan and coordinate

    dispatch schedules

    as per project requirements.
  • Support project teams to meet

    milestones and deadlines

    .
  • Ensure adherence to customer delivery schedules.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with

    safety, quality, and company policies

    .
  • Identify opportunities for

    process improvement and cost optimization

  • Support audits and internal reviews related to PPC activities.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of

    heavy structural fabrication processes

  • Expertise in

    production planning, scheduling, and control

  • Proficiency in

    MS Excel, ERP systems, and planning tools

  • Good coordination and communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

Qualification & Experience

  • Education:

    B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Civil Engineering
  • Experience:

    5–6 years in PPC, preferably in

    heavy structure / steel fabrication industry
