Role Summary

  • The candidate will support Insurance Production and Group Underwriting (UW) initiatives, including system User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and underwriting-related projects. The role requires a strong understanding of group insurance processes, system integration, and project execution under tight timelines.

  1. Key Result Areas

Underwrite cases allotted as per assigned underwriting authority

. Demonstrate knowledge and hands-on experience in system integration and development for group insurance business, including underwriting guidelines, workflows, and operational processes.

. Work effectively on projects with short turnaround times, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

. Identify and analyse system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and address internal and external audit observations. Implement strategic solutions to improve system performance and compliance.

. Monitor live projects and UATs, providing timely observations and feedback to ensure continued system stability and performance.

. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring optimal allocation of tasks, timelines, and resources for successful project outcomes.

. Record and manage action items and minutes during project governance meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.

. Prepare control reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

. Assist in the assessment of Group Underwriting cases and contribute to the enhancement of underwriting practices.

Supervision of Underwriting teams

. Review and sign off on cases referred to by the junior underwriter

. Supervision the individual teams on case distribution & completion.

. Review the cases underwritten by junior underwriters on a monthly basis to minimize error rate.

Resolving queries

. Efficient resolution of Zonal underwriting Queries forwarded by the issuance team within one working day.

Assist the underwriting manager to analysis data to facilitate identifying trends in underwriting.

. Assist in various projects undertaken for technical study of the portfolio.

. To assist the managers to review risk philosophy in order to recommend amendments.

Reinstatement of Cases

. Review of high net worth re instatement cases

Re - Underwrite cases

. Re underwrite cases that have been referred to by the claims department

Risk

. Participate in risk mitigation plans, contingency planning, business continuity programs by executing and reporting within defined timelines. Highlight and recommend process gaps, flaws and process changes.
